How to Prep for Your Carpet Cleaning Appointment (and Get the Best Results)
Simple steps to make sure everything goes smooth and your carpets come out looking their absolute best.
At Tufts Carpet Cleaning, our job is to make your carpets cleaner, your home fresher, and the whole process as hassle-free as possible. Want to know the secret to the best possible results? A few quick prep steps go a long way.
Here’s what you can do before we arrive:
1. Clear the Floor of Small Items
Toys, phone chargers, dog bones, socks, you name it — anything small and loose should be picked up before we arrive. It speeds things up and ensures nothing gets accidentally vacuumed up or misplaced during the cleaning.
2. Put Away Breakables and Valuables
We treat every home with care, but hoses and tools can be bulky. If you’ve got fragile items on low furniture, shelving, or window sills, it’s a good idea to store them in another room temporarily — just to be safe.
3. Vacuum
We like our clients like to vacuum beforehand, especially if it's been a while — totally fine! If not, no worries. We’ve got it covered. Our process starts with a thorough pre-clean prep and agitation that gets deep into the carpet fibers.
4. We Don’t Move Furniture — So Plan Around That
We clean all open and accessible areas, but we don’t move furniture like beds, couches, or dining tables. If there’s a piece you want cleaned under, feel free to shift it before we arrive. If not, we’ll work right up to it and get everything else spotless.
5. Create a Safe Spot for Kids and Pets
We love your little ones (furry or otherwise), but it’s safest for everyone if they hang out in a different room or outside during the cleaning. We’ll be moving hoses, equipment, and spraying treatments, so it helps us work faster and keeps them out of harm’s way.
6. Point Out Problem Areas When We Arrive
Noticed a stain that keeps coming back? Have a mystery spot near the couch? Let us know up front so we can give it some extra attention. We’re happy to explain what we’re doing and why — no guesswork.
7. Save Us a Parking Spot (If You Can)
If possible, leaving a spot open in the driveway or close to the front door helps a ton. The shorter the distance from our van to your carpet, the smoother and quicker the whole job goes.
